5 fun and engaging games to play to keep the kids entertained on a Road trip!

With the July School holiday’s right around the corner some of you may be looking forward to that road trip with the family that you have planned outLeaving behind the everyday hustle and bustle of work or just life in general for the open road… sounds relaxing, doesn’t it? But with kids comes the inevitable question of “are we there yet?” or “how much longer?”. So, to help you keep sane and the kids entertained for hours we’ve compiled a list of our 5 top favourite games to play on a road trip that’s fun for the whole family that aren’t our activity cards 😉.

1. Bingo!
This game requires a little bit of prep before you set off but is bound to keep the kids engaged the entire trip. Write down a list of 10-20 objects that you could see along the way e.g. a person riding a bike and share this list with the kids. The aim of the game is to see who can cross all the objects off the list first and call BINGO.

2. Name that song

No road trip is complete without a good playlist to make the time pass by. Turn the radio on or put your Spotify on shuffle. Whoever can shout out the name of the song first, wins!

3. I Spy

This wouldn’t be a proper list if we missed out this classic game One person starts by saying “I spy with my little eye, something beginning with… A OR for a fun twist, instead of using the letters of the alphabet change it up for a colour instead! Such as “I spy with my little eye something… green.

4. Pipe Cleaner creations

Creative play is always a fun way to keep the kids entertained which is why we love fuzzy pipe cleaners as they’re super cheap and so versatile. Get the kids to use the pipe cleaners to create all kinds of cool creatures. They can also make letters out of the pipe cleaners and spell words for a little added educational bonus.

5. Spotto

A little friendly competition is always fun. When a yellow car comes into vision, the first person to see it yells SPOTTO and gets a point. At the end of the trip the person with the most points wins.

And if all else fails... pull out your Around the Table Activity cards!!

You love them around the table so why not bring them along to your next road trip! Each card provides families an opportunity to connect through conversation, strengthen bonds, and not to mention keep them entertained without the use of an iPad.

These are some of our favourite fun and engaging car games for kids that keep our little ones entertained on road trips. Do you have any cool games to play in the car to share? Let us know!
